HELLCAT NIGHT # 01
THE CASUALTIES
"Under Attack", the brash, brutal new album from New York punk rock veterans The Casualties is the must own punk rock album of 2006. The Casualties previous effort "On The Front Line" (SD71243), released in February of 2004 went on to sell over 62K copies in the US on the back of a very solid touring schedule. The Casualties took a short break from their relentless touring schedule and returned to the studio with Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Rise Against, The Suicide Machines.) The result is "Under Attack," fourteen tracks of blistering punk rock. The Casualties tour plans are set for the remainder of 2006. They will be one of the main attractions on the entire 2006 Warped Tour, where kids can expect a taste of "Under Attack" during the band´s set each day. The Casualties finish the Warped Tour and will head to the West Coast for week of release shows in LA, SD, Phoenix, Vegas and SF. A full Canadian tour will follow, followed by the band´s return to Japan (their previous trip to Japan was documented in the DVD "Can´t Stop Us.) Near the end of September, The Casualties will headline the Punx Unite Tour, a full- US Tour that runs until the middle of November. The Casualties will finish out the year with tour of Europe and a few east coast tour dates.
REJECTED YOUTH - THE STORY SO FAR... | 2008
In the summer of ’98 Matze and Keks started the project Rejected Youth, which wasn’t supposed to last too long at that time. Both the music and the lyrics were either taken from or influenced by old U.S. Hardcore Bands. But just covering old songs wasn’t satisfying enough and therefore 6 months later they set to a real start with Andy Pfeiffer on bass guitar, writing their own lyrics, composing their own songs. Now they orientated themselves more on traditional punkrock. Direct and dirty, rough and inconvenient. They were conscious of the liability that a band has and so the messages steadily became more political and critical. In late ´99 they realeased their first and only Demo-Tape „Millennium“. Only three days later after it was released they signed a record deal with Streetmusic Berlin which put out the „Screwballs“ 7“ EP in 2000. After a tour with Oxymoron in Canada was unfortunately canceled they changed the label and in 2001 released the 10’’ / CD “Not For Phonies” on Halb-7-Records and Bandworm Records. The reactions were enthusiastic! Fanzines and mailorders loved the record and the comparison was (almost) always the same: Something like "It sounds like Oxymoron...". Do I have to tell you more? That was the point when Andy Braun, an old buddy, joined on the second guitar and brought new energy and ideas into the band.
Right on time for their first bigger tour through Germany in August 2002, the full length debut “21st Century Loser“ was released on Halb-7-Records and Bad Dog Records/Rough Trade. At this moment it was already known, that Andy Pfeiffer is going to quit playing for Rejected Youth, so the band was on a lookout for a suitable successor for the upcoming tour with Backslide. The person was found pretty fast in Kalle who already made some music with Keks and Matze in the mid 90ties and shortly thereafter he became a full member of the Rejects. A couple of seperate shows were played and as climax a two week US Eastcoast Tour, which was somewhat chaotic but in a whole a full success. While being on it they recorded their gig in the legendary CBGBs that was partly released in December 2003 on the 7” EP “Awesome CBGBs” (msm1279.Records / Broken Silence).
In 2004 the ways of Andy Braun and Rejected Youth split due to personal problems, but this didn’t stop the band. As a three piece they ´ve been on tour with Voice Of A Generation, joined the Beat.Em.Down & Force Attack Festival and played as headliner on a two week tour through Germany. In fall msm1279.Records / Broken Silence and Twisted Chords released the MCD / 7“ EP „No Police State Coalition“ while at the same time the recordings for the second album “Angry Kids” were completed. This album (released in March 2005) was a milestone in the history of the band. Songs like „Antifascista“, „A Threat Again“ or „Bad Boys Attack“ are definitely their most popular songs! After an other extensive European Tour in 2005, Kalle left the band and Rejected Youth played their last show for the moment on June 5th 2005.
But after only one year Matze and Keks decided to go on with their project and found with Andy Chaos on guitar and Sancho on bass, some pretty cool new bandmembers. In the beginning nobody really knew how people would react to this reunion. But, contrary to expectations, 2007 was the best year for Rejected Youth since they started their project in 1998! Their new songs and record „Public Disorder“ (Concrete Jungle Records / msm1279.Records / Broken Silence) burst like a bombshell and after only a few month this record became the bestseller – for Rejected Youth and Concrete Jungle Records! Nearly every magazine wrote, that this is the best album Rejected Youth had ever recorded. But not only the new record was a higlight – Muttis Booking offered them to join The Unseen on their European Tour. And of course they accepted! Although the whole tour was a resounding success - the show in Nürnberg (their hometown) was the climax: 700 people - sold out!
Of course there are a lot of things already planned for 2008 and hopefully you don´t forget to celebrate with the band „Ten Years Rejected Youth“!

THE RABBLE
Like a banner of hope rising in the midst of a battalion of soldiers; The Rabble hit the scene - joining in the march of a new generation. With an onslaught of soulful Punk Rock, they paint a picture of spirit in the face of adversity - with tales of life, death, love and hate. The unrelenting trio, originating from Auckland City, New Zealand: dedicate their lives to bringing the enthusiasm back to Rock ‘n Roll - taking their anthemic, barbed-wire assault to the Northern Hemisphere this year. Forget the stereotypes - this is a band who’s sound is tearing down the barriers of commercial mediocrity!
The story begins with brothers Chazz and Rupe in the monotonous summer of ‘01 - at the young and angst-ridden ages of 14 and 15. With the sounds of ‘77 reverberating in their souls and out of a sheer desperation for something other than what a day-to-day society has to offer - The Rabble were born! Eight years and hundreds of live shows later; the band are as resilient as ever - having survived multiple line-up changes, coming out humbled, with a fierce determination and without ever losing their vision, their integrity, or more importantly - their core-songwriters…
Current day see’s the brothers teaming up with Jamie Douglass on bass guitar. Having paid his dues on the stage in another local Punk Rock outfit: the fire is there and with refreshed and solid bass-lines once again behind the beat - The Rabble is at the top of their game!
Look out for the band this year in a city near you, as they tour relentlessly in support of their latest delivery: ‘The Battle’s Almost Over’ - “a coming of age record for the band, one that sees it transcend the boundaries of routine but good Punk Rock and move into the territory reserved for genre-defining innovators.” [Scannerzine]
